Angelique Kidjo at Royal Festival Hall - In Pictures
On Friday the 8th of June 2018, Angelique Kidjo performed her long awaited rendition of Talking Heads’ album Remain In Light at the prestigious Royal Festival Hall on London’s South Bank. She was welcomed onstage to a percussion solo, which lead in to Born Under Punches, and Cross-eyed And Painless, before a more mellow Cauri.
Kidjo exhibited raw energy and passion from the get go, and gave an impassioned speech about the importance of saving mother Earth before her rendition of The Great Curve.
Pata Pata saw the whole crowd encouraged to stand in the largely reserved Royal Albert Hall, Angelique’s encouragement and energy got the whole crowd to sing and dance along, while showing off her own dance moves simultaneously. With a voice that filled the hall, and an impressive 8 man band behind her onstage, the energetic vibes in the room were contagious. The evening was a celebration of African Culture, and a way of uniting people through music.
